Although I have had a few weeks without any craft fairs I have been busy with all the other things that need to be done. New business cards have been designed, printed and delivered, I have set up a Facebook page and I have also been been playing with the digital SLR camera trying to work out how to photograph my jewellery in the best possible way. I have loaded a few new pictures onto my Facebook page, and hopefully these will be posted on here as soon as possible. I spent much of the last Sunday afternoon playing around with my camera and different angles, lighting and backgrounds for photos. I got some photos that I was really pleased with and once they have had a bit of cropping they will also be added to both my Facebook page and the website. I also took delivery of some beautiful new semi-precious beads from www.beadsdirect.co.uk! I have to admit that these haven't helped my photographing either. They have been sitting in their delivery box just tempting me to put down the camera and get making instead. I resisted temptation but it was difficult. Next thing on my 'to do' list is to set up a new section on my website regarding jewellery parties. Better get going and start ticking things off the ever increasing list!!!

Yesterday was another fantastic evening. I was lucky enough to attend the STEPS Pre-school Pamper and Shopping Evening at St Stephens Church in Tonbridge. The beautiful setting of the church was the perfect place to spend the evening. The atmosphere was relaxed yet fun and I was surrounded by many beautiful stalls. Some of my favourites were www.fridayschildcrafts.co.uk,www.gincatglass.co.uk and www.Facebook.com/oneoffs. For joyero it was another successful and fun night. I even managed to sneak in a few pamper treats myself!

Chainmaille crazy... Well the Pamper Evening at Hadlow Primary School was just as much fun. The evening was another success with lots of compliments and even better, more sales! In fact sales were so good that I sold every piece of the byzantine chainmaille jewellery I had taken with me. I am now in the process of making some replacement pieces ready for the Pamper and Shopping Evening that I am attending on Friday evening. As well as these I have also got ready a lovely selection of shaggy loop bracelets and necklaces that feature glass pearls, charms, crystals and glass crackle beads. Lets hope that these are as popular as I love these pieces. They are very tactile and are sort of like charm bracelets with a difference. If you want to have a look I will be at the Pamper and Shopping Evening at St Stephens Church, Tonbridge on Friday March 23rd. Hope to see you there...

No time to rest... Yesterday was the first craft fair that I have attended as a seller and I had a fantastic time!!! It was such a lovely environment and everyone that visited the Stag Theatre was very friendly and supportive. Making my first sale was like all my Christmases coming at once. It finally helps to confirm that there are people other than my Mum and best friend (who are always given jewellery presents for birthdays and Christmas whether they want them or not) that actually like the jewellery I have made, and even better like it so much they want to pay for it!!! Despite being exhausted from the day and the thrill of selling some pieces there is no time to rest for tomorrow evening is sale number 2. I am off to a Pamper Evening at Hadlow Primary School, although I'm sure I'll not have any time to be pampered myself!

Preparations... Last minute preparations are in full flow for the first of this years craft fairs and pamper evenings that I am attending in the next couple of days. I love the actual making of my jewellery but now is time to get down to all the little jobs that I keep putting off like making price tags (job passed onto my supportive husband) and working out how to display everything. I am very much looking forward to spending a day surrounded by like minded craft sellers and talking all things jewellery with people visiting my stall at the craft fair at the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks.

Just received my delivery of beautiful glass pearl beads from www.madcowbeads.com. Itching to get to work using them in some pieces of jewellery I have in mind. I think that they would make really pretty bracelets and necklaces used in a chainmaille shaggy loop. Combined with some metal charms they would look really effective. Sadly the kids are still on their Christmas holidays so no time during the day and too tired in the evening. May just have to sit and watch some tv whilst consuming the last of the Christmas choccies and cake....

And so it begins.....
So, it's the beginning of the new year and the beginning of joyero. Time to get my website up and running! Having never had a website or a blog before this is all very alien to me. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon and before I know it it will be second nature.
Where do I start? This blog and website has started from a hobby and a love of sparky and shiney beads. As I have two young children spare time is a luxury and finding time to make jewellery isn't always a luxury I have but I spend most evenings surrounded by beads and findings. I am now trying to take it to the next level and turn this hobby into a small business. I suppose I should stop writing this blog and start getting on with it...
